adamawa

"The Land of Beauty" is the slogan of Adamawa State, a state in Nigeria's northeastern geopolitical zone, where Hausa is the primary language.

On the 27th of August 1991, it was carved out of the defunct Gongola State. It shares common boundaries with Taraba State, Gombe State, Borno State, and an international border with the Cameroun Republic.

It would be a disgrace to miss out on the State's breathtaking nature and scenery.

In addition to maize, rice, and millet, the State grows sugar cane and cotton, as well as groundnuts and kola nuts.

Mineral ore resources, such as iron, lead, zinc, limestone, etc., can be found across the State.

The prominent tribes in Adamawa State are directly reflected in the State's culture and customs. Rich in tradition, the State's rich cultural heritage is vividly reflected in the people's attire, dancing, music, and history.

Several festivals are held in Yola town and the surrounding area from March through May, such as the Njuwa Fishing Festival and the Yinagu Fishing Festival.

Tourist sites and popular historical structures in Adamawa State are listed below:

MANDARA
The Mandara

Adamawa's Mandara Mountain is one of the State's most prominent tourist attractions and the State's most famous mountains. It is located in the northeastern region of the State of Adamawa, which borders Cameroon.

Hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering are popular activities in the Mandara Mountains.

Mofu and Kirdi ethnic groups inhabit the region, which speakers of Chadic languages heavily populate.

You may learn one or two things in a new language.

SUKUR
Sukur Cultural Landscape (UNESCO World Heritage Site) It is perched on a hilltop above the hamlet of Sukur, found in the Madagali Local Government Area.

Sukur is a natural exhibit of human nature and a well-preserved edifice that dates back more than 500 years, making it a popular tourist destination.

It is a remarkable physical depiction of a society and its spiritual and material culture, with its Palace of the Hidi (Chief) on a hill overseeing the settlements below and the terraced fields.

KOMA
The Hill of Koma
The Koma people, a primitive hill-dwelling ethnic group, live on the Koma hill, located near the Republic of Cameroon. It was found in 1986 by a corps member.

People who love nature and adventure will enjoy Koma hill.

As part of their cultural history, they display primitive motifs and dress to the point of nudity. The men wear loincloths, and the ladies wear fresh leaves.

Stone carvings and paintings depicting the medieval life of the area's residents provide fascinating glimpses into the past of the Koma people.

In Koma, property is passed down through the matrilineal line.

A Koma man may share his wife with friends, especially tourists, as a sign of friendship and acceptance. They were known to bury identical twins alive for reasons best known to them.

Koma people still hold on to their ancient traditions and other religious practices despite being surrounded by Islamic societies. It may appear like Koma residents have been in a coma since the fall of civilization.

ruwan%20zufi
Ruwan Zafi (meaning hot water)
It is popularly known as the Lamurde hot spring in Lamurde Local Government Area in Adamawa State.

In 1999, it was included on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and has since become a popular tourist attraction.

Here, the convergence of hot and cold water creates a warm water stream. The indigenous people believe it is a cure-all.

Visitors from both inside and outside the country flock to see this wonder. As the water flows year-round, it forms a big and deep reservoir. It then makes its way to a larger body of water further downriver.

An iron industry, a palace, villages, and a hot spring are part of the world-famous Sukur Cultural Landscape.

kiri%20dam
Kiri Dam

The dam is near the town of Kiri in the Adamawa State local government area of Shelleng.

The Kiri Dam was developed to serve Numan's Savannah Sugar Company with energy and water.

The hillside overlooking the dam are beautiful structures with modern facilities accommodating tourists.

The Kiri dam is an excellent place for boat racing and surfing, and fishing.
